heh reckie at orchard wasn't that bad, given that all the walking lessened the aches. now that im sitting down here typing this, oh the throbbing pain!!

it's really a sad sad situation (according to Elton John) the beloved(hsc) choir is facing. new conductor. new techniques and teaching style. different attitudes. different mindsets. same old irresponsibilities by ___________. same old hatred towards ________ for ____________. you fill in the blanks yourself (: won't give away anything

and im gonna reiterate that whatever new challenges ahead, stay together,be united, work hard to preserver the haisingers' spirit of singing. you have a God-given talent, that's why you are in CHOIR. YOU CAN SING. it's always a wonder that so many people, with different personalities and voices can come together to create music that comforts,uplifts and entertains.

this is all the encouragement i can give. i think. for now.

decided to come up with a few statements.

1. be happy with who you are, whether fat or skinny,black or white, pretty/handsome or not-so-pretty/-handsome. no use fretting over. if it what you're not is getting to you, do something about it (:

2. christianity is a relationship, not a religion. doesn't matter how good/bad the worship songs are or how engaging/boring the sermons are. our main purpose of going to church is for fellowship with brothers and sisters, as well as glorifying our Father.

3. worrying is optional. ha that's my personal motto. actually, i shouldn't be anxious on whether i can stay on in MJC, or transfer to poly. wherever you go for your tertiary education, as long as you build a good foundation for uni, everything's a breeze (i guess? =/)

it was quite an experience distributing the fliers around changi this morning. sheesh the labyrinth of semi-ds and terraces. the "surprises" from the houses-dogs growling and barking. HAHAH ting an was such a scaredy cat. i screamed like hell when i opened a letter box flap with a lizard in it. oh man. and jack russells and huskies and terriers barking their heads off through the gate that protected me from their fury. & & there were really some super filthy rich people with swimming pools and a veranda especially for BBQs.

it's all gloomy and dark outside, but inside i'm all warm and cosy. :D reminicsing the past while packing a whole room of more 4 years worth of education materials... maths careless mistakes, english errors, stupid science solutions, chinese comprehension, humanities hardships and "abstract" art pieces. (i still have the umbrella from sec 2). man i actually thought of retarded phrases for those subjects i'm gonna throw away! BYE BYE SS! FOREVERRRRR

i have decided to take H2 chem,bio,maths, H1 geog,chinese,compulsory GP and PW. somehow, despite my lacklustre prelim results, God somehow landed me in MJC :D man JERMIAN CHO successfully appealled into TJC. GRRRRRRRR congrats!

and i really really miss SU camp loads ): encounters with God, fellowship with friends and the fun activities. i guess that by turning 16, i really need to grow up, think and act more maturely, and also at the same time, keep that inner child within alive. after all, what's the use of putting up a false front to make people happy?

finally turned 16. and that happened in SU camp :D really memorable for me. songs and cake-smashing and a MIDNIGHT surprise from my group PUMAAAAA :D all the pics are like with bro daniel. and God was always ever present at this milestone at the SU campsite, the LAST ever held in Sentosa.

come to think of it, we singaporeans are sometimes really intolerable and impatient people

guy A cuts guy B's queue at the bus interchange. guy B expresses his displeasure. guy A says "bus driver never see, so what?" fight ensues. guy A shouts all kinds of hokkien/english profanitites imaginable, while guy B justs retaliates in a quiet-tone-with-ang-moh-accent kind of way. guy A says "you think you speak like that i scared ah?!?! ************(expletives)"

another scenario. 2 guys, each carrying a bible of all things, choing into train without caring about those who are need the seat more than they do, like a poor old lady struggling to walk, AND can sit down an innocently look at the bible like they are the holiest of them all. even i have the sense to saunter slowly into the train. if i get a seat so be it. if i don't so be it.

I was deeply touched by the present committee for specially organising a surprise dinner for me :D Well, the time spent was short but I really treasured it. And judging from the responses the other seniors, i am sure(though i wasn't physically there) that they 100% thoroughly(word redundant but to stress...haha)had a whale of a time celebrating our departure from the Haisingers.I really really wished I could have been there to experience it all ): and I never had the chance to take a good and decent photo with the Altos(that could have been put up on the choir website with the other sections on the home page.)

Continue to keep those vocal chords and stomach muscles working to hit the high notes for the Sopranos (whoa the TV series =P ), to anchor the Sops for the Altos (singing/chest/speaking voice), harmonise the whole choir for the Tenors, and to anchor the whole choir for the Basses :D

I pray for a GREAT year in 2008, that the Haisingers' schedule will be packed with practises, voice trainings, choral workshops, competitions, get-togethers/bonding sessions, school/public performances and so much more other activities, that all members will fully commit themselves to these activities with enthusiasm and undivided attention and effort.

Truth be told, the happiest moments of my school life have taken place in choir. Even the music room was considered my 3rd home. Let not thou companions discourage you from your passion-SINGING. It's a God-given gift that you ALL have and please please don't let it go to waste.

Lastly, I truly, madly and deeply will miss you all, especially those in my section(WOOHOO! of course :D). Committee and members alike, never ever give up hope on current or future circumstances. Stay united and strong. Obey the teachers no matter how frustrating administration can get. Keep smiling and don't worry, for my personal motto is: Worrying is optional.

All the best to those taking their O's next year, to those starting a new life with new subjects in Sec 3, to those going to Sec 2 and of course, the NEW Sec 1s who will be joining us. MJC open house was fun! :D we haisians owned the place XD almost half of 4E1 was there and jun kai was our tour guide. haha the chinese cultural society's skit was hilarious! (: lol and we attended a short "lecture" on chem.. i just love the spirit there, the homey-ness of the place and warmth of the seniors. too bad i missed the choir's performance.

here's something interesting that i've learnt from sunday's sermon:

Ezekiel 28:12-19 is about the prophecy against the King of Tyre, more commonly known now as The Devil, Satan or Lucifer
in summary, Satan was created by God and he was "the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty" (vv12). so he grew too complacent and proud with his beauty and wisdom, so much so that he thought he could be another God. God then burned Satan to ashes (vv18)

that's why Hell is perceived as a fiery place of suffering.

don't wanna experience Hell? come to the LORD today and you'll be saved ! :D

God : Well I wanted to resolve your fight for time, by giving you

Me: Tell me, why has life become complicated now?

God : Stop analysing life. Just live it. Analysis is what makes it
complicated.

Me: why are we then constantly unhappy?

God : Your today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday .
You are worrying because you are analysing. Worrying has become your
habit. That's why you are not happy.

Me: But how can we not worry when there is so much uncertainty?

God : Uncertainty is inevitable, but worrying is optional.

Me: But then, there is so much pain due to uncertainty..

God : Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional.

Me: If suffering is optional, why do good people always suffer?

God : Diamond cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be
purified without fire. Good people go through trials, but don't
suffer. With that experience their life become better not bitter.

Me: You mean to say such experience is useful?

God : Yes. In every terms, Experience is a hard teacher. She gives
the test first and the lessons afterwards.

Me: But still, why should we go through such tests? Why cant we be
free from problems?

God : Problems are Purposeful Roadblocks Offering Beneficial Lessons
(to) Enhance Mental Strength. Inner strength comes from struggle and
endurance, not when you are free from problems.

Me: Frankly in the midst of so many problems, we don't know where we
are heading..

God : If you look outside you will not know where you are heading.
Look inside. Looking outside, you dream. Looking inside, you awaken.
Eyes provide sight. Heart provides insight.

Me: Sometimes not succeeding fast seems to hurt more than moving in
the right direction. What should I do?

God : Success is a measure as decided by others. Satisfaction is a
measure as decided by you. Knowing the road ahead is more satisfying
than knowing you rode ahead. You work with the compass. Let others
work with the clock.

Me: In tough times, how do you stay motivated?

God : Always look at how far you have come rather than how far you
have to go. Always count your blessings, not what you are missing.

Me: What surprises you about people?

God : when they suffer they ask, "why me?" When they prosper, they
never ask "Why me" Everyone wishes to have truth on their side, but
few want to be on the side of the truth.

Me: Sometimes I ask, who am I, why am I here . I cant get the answer.

God : Seek not to find who you are, but to determine who you want to
be. Stop looking for a purpose as to why you are here. Create it.
Life is not a process of discovery but a process of creation.

Me: How can I get the best out of life?

God : Face your past without regret . Handle your present with
confidence. Prepare for the future without fear .

Me: Thank you for this wonderful chat. I am so happy to start the
New Year with a new sense of inspiration.

God : Well. Keep the faith and drop the fear . Don't believe your
doubts and doubt your beliefs. Life is a mystery to solve not a
problem to resolve. Trust me. Life is wonderful if you know how to live.

i just realised you can't use CCA to get into a JC TODAY T_T damn. and as promised, i will continue my farewell speech(es).

Jan 2004. i stepped into choir knowing absolutely nothing about how or what to expect. and i'm glad i stayed on. there were times i felt like giving up, but i know by God's will that He wanted me to keep going. speech day and all the pro seniors (: started to open up in sec 2 and going wild. haha in front of the sec 1s during the interaction day. the choir concert at VCH. voyage of songs at KL and how the girls tau pok-ed me on my birthday. thanks ah! "AGOOOOONYY" XD

sec 3 and ALTO 1 SL :D it was really tough for me because i was still a NOOB (as the guys will say) and i had this goal of improving the altos.
but not all the credit goes to me. I'M SUPER-UBER PROUD OF ALL THE ALTOS :D without all your hard work and pia-ing, SYF could have been even more nerve-wrecking. know what? MISS ONG SAID WE SANG EVERYTHING IN TUNE :D i totally went BEYOND the moon. maybe to the sun XD

and i wanna say the only time i have EVER pontang-ed choir was when i was in sec 3. haha i went bowling instead.

gosh. thinking about choir now.really brings back fond memories. the music room has become my 3rd? 4th? home, other then my house and school and church.

since SYF is over i would like to dedicate this post exclusively and specially to all choir members, seniors and juniors alike. think not about the award we got, but rather, the experiences that have led to our hard work and committment towards this ultimate goal.

i hope that all of you members out there will continue the spirit of a haisinger, passionate for singing, and love for music. listening attentively to those in charge and be self-disciplined

shall continue another day when i have the right words. in the mean time : KAMPATEII :D
